Kaj Arnö is Vice President at MySQL AB, based again in his native Finland after a two-year stay in Munich 2002-04. Since joining MySQL AB in 2001 with a background as a software entrepreneur and CEO for 14 years, Kaj has been in charge of Training, Support, Services and Software Engineering at MySQL AB. With two new VPs on board, for Services and Engineering, Kaj builds bridges between the MySQL Cupertino office and the 17 countries where MySQL has employees. Kaj's present responsibilities include the MySQL SAP relationship and MySQL's internal IT infrastructure. His heart continues to have a special feeling for both Development and Munich.

David is one of the Founders of both the MySQL Project and the company behind it (MySQL AB). David has been working with MySQL since well before it had a name. David lives in Uppsala, Sweden with his wife, infant daughter, plants and of course a number of computers.

Patrik Backman works as Director of SAP Alliance at MySQL AB, and is responsible for the overall partnership between MySQL AB and SAP AG. Patrik also handles the MaxDB Product Manager role at MySQL AB.

Tim Bunce is the author and maintainer of the Perl DBI module. A perl5-porter since 1994, he has contributed to the development of the Perl language and many of its core modules. Founder and CTO of Data-Plan Services, a perl, database and performance consultancy with an international client base. Awarded the ActiveState Perl "Programmers' Choice" award in 2003 and the Oracle Magazine "Open Source Developer of the Year" award in 2004.

Sergei Golubchik

Sergei Golubchik joined MySQL AB in March 2000, and is concentrated on MySQL server programming since then. His main project was MySQL Fulltext Search, but he has also implemented several other sql- and storage engine-related features. Now he, as a Senior Software Developer, is supervising bug fixing (including security ones) and various server development tasks, and continues to enjoy working on MySQL server internals. For what it worth, he got his PhD in Physics in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and now lives in Osnabrueck, Germany.

Peter Gulutzan co-wrote four computer books (including "SQL-99 Complete, Really" and "SQL Performance Tuning") and several articles (including iX, dbazine.com, the Oracle FAQ and the MySQL newsletter). Since February 2003 his title is Software Architect for MySQL AB. He's from Edmonton, Canada.

Hartmut Holzgraefe (38), electric engineer and computer scientist with a minor degree in biology, first came into contact in late '99 and just got stuck with it. Over the last years he's been digging his way through PHP source and manual, putting in various translations, bug fixes and additions, including the deceased RTFM extension. Hartmut is working as a senior support engineer for MySQL AB.

Jan Kneschke started as web-developer and system-administrator for the NetUSE AG, Kiel, Germany with the main focus on PHP, LDAP and Solaris. After he finished his studies in electical engineering he founded incremental.de to give his knowledge in high-performance, network-related software a new ground. localizer, lighttpd and netoflife are examples of this fruitfull work. Since 2004 he works for MySQL AB, Uppsala, Sweden as trainer and consultant.

Mark Matthews is a Software Development Manager for MySQL AB. He developed the JDBC driver for MySQL and now oversees the team that delivers client connectivity for MySQL. Mark lives in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.

Carsten Pedersen is the MySQL AB certification manager, and has led the development of the MySQL certification program. He has also taught several MySQL courses in a number of countries.

Georg Richter is the author of PHP's mysql extensions. He works for MySQL AB as a Senior Developer (SAP R/3 adaption, PHP's mysql extensions, Connector/OO.org), contributes code to various Open Source projects and is a member of the Apache Software Foundation.

Heikki Tuuri, 40, is the creator of InnoDB, a transactional storage engine embedded inside MySQL. He holds a PhD degree in mathematics from the University of Helsinki.

Michael G. Zinner joined MySQL AB in October 2003 as a member of the new MySQL GUI team. Mike is responsible for designing and developing the graphical MySQL tools including the MySQL Administrator and MySQL Query Browser. Prior to joining MySQL AB, Mike was developing database related GUI tools, including a highly acknowledged visual database designer for MySQL, DBDesigner 4.
